Default How does Debt Settlement Compare to Bankruptcy

I want to explain in detail why debt negotiation works better than bankruptcy.

Bankruptcy will affect your ability to get credit for the rest of your life. Debt settlement, on the other hand, will be over faster and allow you to begin to work towards a better credit rating faster.

Some people seem to think that because bankruptcy erases more debt faster that it is a better solution. The question then becomes is this idea true?

Over the long term the answer is no. Over the short term the answer is also no.

Declaring bankruptcy does not mean that you suddenly have $0 payments to make to your creditors. There will still be monthly payments to your bankruptcy lawyer, and these payments continue throughout the process of finishing your bankruptcy requirements (this takes 9 - 12 months depending on which state you live in).

During that same amount of time, the payments what you made to that bankruptcy lawyer could have went towards your debt settlement solution.

Worse than that though, the affects over the longer term are much worse.

By declaring bankruptcy, you automatically guarantee that the Chapter 13 will show up on your credit report for the next 8 years. For that amount of time you will have trouble securing any type of credit.
When it's time to buy a new house, a new car, etc, getting the funds to do so will be a struggle.

Even after a bankruptcy, you will be forced to answer the question "Have you ever declared bankruptcy before?" whenever you apply for credit. This can affect your ability to take out a loan forever!

With a debt settlement solution, the effects to your credit rating generally only last as long as the plan itself. If we determine that your debt can be paid off in three years, then after that amount of time you can begin to work towards improving your credit rating.

Even while working to reduce your debt, sometimes credit can be obtained. If you have a purchase that you need to make while settling your debts, we can write a letter explaining that we are reaching agreed to settlements to help you get a lease or loan.

With the debt paid off debts are marked as settled, and you can start a credit restoration right away.
