You have already taken the first step to eliminate your debt, this step is deciding to get rid of the debt and very important as well that is part of this step, is the goal that you have set to buy a home in the near future. As long as you keep focused on the goal you can eliminate this debt by utilizing one of the many tools out there that can help you eliminate your debt in no time.

I recommend you to look into a Debt Settlement Program, since it is the most effective way out there to eliminate your debt as fast as possible and to save you a lot of money. What settlement companies offer is a negotiation with your creditors, where you will end up paying back 30% - 50% of your overall debt to most creditors. Since the debt negotiation company settles your debt for a much lower percentage than your original amount owed, the time frame to eliminate debt is significantly shorter than any other programs out there. This method to eliminate debt is getting more and more popular with the current financial crisis affecting our country, and more people are choosing Debt Settlement .

Of course make sure that you choose a company that is reliable if you decide to look into this option and you can use resources out there as the BBB, TASC, and consumer reviews online. Just to simplify your search I can tell you that one of the companies widely mentioned and worth looking into is CuraDebt, they are the #1 in Debt Settlement Company according to many.

I hope this information has been of great help!!!

The amount of debt that you have is not a lot, but you should still try to pay it off quick. Right now, your debt is only $1,500 but if you do not do anything about it, this balance will keep increasing. Keep in mind that right now you are stressed because your debt is 1,500 but if you relax about it too much then your debt will not be that balance anymore, it will be more. So, if I was you I wouldn't stress too much about it but I would try to pay it off quick before the creditor decides to increase your interest rates to a ridiculous percentage and if that happens, it will be more difficult for you to be debt free and then you will really be stressed.

If you will like to become debt free soon then you should try settling you debt. Debt Settlement is where your debt gets negotiate in order for you...

If you will like to become debt free soon then you should try settling you debt. Debt Settlement is where your debt gets negotiate in order for you to pay back a lower percentage of what you originally owe. You will achieve savings anywhere from 50-70%. In other words you would be paying back your creditor 30-50 cents on the dollar. If your accounts are slightly or significantly delinquent at this point then making settlements is going to have a direct improvement on your credit because it will show that these accounts are resolved. There are some companies that will require a monthly payment but there are also companies that will tell you to save that money in a personal checking account that will be 100% under you name and your control only instead of you sending monthly payments. If I was you, I would rather go with a company that lets me be in control of my money because I know that my money is save all times, instead of going with a company that requires monthly payments that 1. will charge at types of fees if I cannot send the money on time or send the amount agreed, so in a way they are like the creditors and 2. at any time the company may disappear with my money so now you will be into more debt. A great thing about debt settlement is regards to your credit score is that it will start to increase as the accounts get settled. When you complete the program, your credit score will not be perfect because you used a third part to help you but it will be decent and you can always do a credit restoration if you would like your credit score to increase quickly. Before you join a company, please make sure you check their BBB rating to make sure that they have an excellent rating (A+) and that they have been in business for many years. Please keep in mind that just before you call a company to ask for information, does not mean that you are committing to it. Please make sure that you do a very good research and join a company that will offer you great things like:

*You are in control of accepting or rejecting offers so you will be happy and satisfied once a settlement is reached. Off course they will give you advise

*Their commission is based on the money they save you and NOT on you total debt. You will achieve great savings with a company that charges their commission based on the money they save you because the more money they save you, the more money they will receive so it is a win win situation.

*They let you be in control of your money so you know that it is save 24/7 and you know that they will not disapear with it and put you into more debt.

*They let you decide which creditors you will like to enter in the program.

*They take care of the harassing phone calls

Please take may advise into consideration so you make a wise decision.
:D

There are many ways to take care of credit card debt.

If what you want is to settle the debt and pay back less than 50% of the overall debt , then debt settlement / debt negotiations will be the route to take.

The most important thing to know about Debt Settlement or Debt Negotiation companies is that about 80% of these companies will only dig a bigger whole for you. which is why it's important to make sure that the Debt settlement / Debt Negotiation company that you choose should be members of the BBB with a good rating. TASC members, and with their corresponding Chamber Of Commerce.
You can also check " debt settlement consumer reports" in Google to get the leading companies in the industry.

Debt settlement can be a great opportunity to eliminate debt in a reasonable time frame which will result in HUGE savings.

Once you complete this type of program, I strongly recommend that a credit restoration program be followed upon completion, so that your credit report can be effectively upgraded.

You can also call the BBB, and ask them to recommend a repurtable company.

"Good Debt Settlement Companies will hold your hand trough the whole process. You will work together as a team and create a bridge of trust between the company and your self"

You want to make sure that when you are looking for a Good Debt Settlement company, you do your homework by reviewing the companies BBB rating and also by the client support. The relationship that they are creating with you when speaking to you is very important since they are doing more then guiding you, they are giving you an example of how successful can they be when speaking to your creditors and how good they can be when negotiating in you behalf.

When you look into a debt settlement company is great to look into your benefits within the company. You want the company to guarantee you that they will be in contact with you during the program. You do not want to just let your accounts go to another hands without knowing what is the process been done in your behalf. Remember, they are working in your behalf. They are working to give you a result and they are working to successfully have you out of Debt. A guarantee to be Debt Free.

Hello Joshua,
With a debt settlement program, your debt will be negotiated down to a certain percentage on the lowed in order for the consumer to obtain great savings.

Despite the fact that it will have a negative affect on your credit, this is can be considered a great bankruptcy alternative. As a consumer struggling financially you want to base your decision on a company that is really working for the client´s best interest. Paying for the service that is provided to the consumer or client, you should have a full staff of professionals working on your behalf, very experience company with exceptional references, most importantly you would want a LEGIT company.

In my opinion, I would rather join a debt settlement program that will be able to reduce the debt. I know that the attorney told you that they will not settle for less than the total debt but in most cases they say that type of things just to get you scared so you pay the full amount right away. I would recommend that before you try to negotiate with your creditors for a payment plan, you try calling some debt settlement companies and talk to them about your debt and your situation to see how they will be able to help you. Debt Settlement is where your debt gets negotiated in order for you to pay back a lower percentage of what you originally owe. You may achieve savings anywhere from 50-70%. In other words you would be paying back your creditor 30-50 cents on the dollar.
I also recommend that before you call a debt settlement company, you do your research to make sure that the company is not FRAUDULENT and that they are members of the Better Business Bureau and with a very good rating. Keep in mind that you are not committing to anything just by calling a company for advice in regards to your debt.
You can try to negotiate with your creditors on your own but you will not achieve the same results that a debt settlement company would because they have special negotiating tactics to save you as much as possible.
After you have done your research and have spoken to different debt settlement companies, if you decide that negotiating your debt on your own is the best thing to do then you may do so but the good thing now is that you have more knowledge on how to deal with your creditors.
I hope that you take my advice and that it helps you make the best decision.

Hello Josh,

This is Emily from the west coast.

Regarding your concern, yes there are some Debt Management companies that are FRAUDULENT and will scam consumers if they happen to fall into the trap. Such companies are only willing to take advantage of the consumer to the best of their ability, and will manipulate the whole situation to make you believe anything. As a consumer struggling financially, I can advise you to do your investigation wisely and try to dig very deeply to find the dirt.

Not all Debt Settlement companies are professional scam artist. Within that specific industry you can actually seek assistance from very well reputable, accredited, legit companies that will work hard for the benefit of their clients.

In my opinion, one excellent resource you should really look into is the BBB website, the Better Business Bureau or TASC. You will be surprised of the reviews and ratings many of these companies have.

Please have a few minutes to check out my sources, hopefully this can help you acquire the right decision regarding your financial matter.

Hello Llaine,

This is Emily from the west coast.

In regards to your situation, as a consumer struggling financially a great bankruptcy alternative is Debt Settlement which is also known as Debt Negotiation. This debt settlement program can really help you to pay off your debts instead of consolidation. The whole concept of debt settlement is to negotiate the total debt amount into a much lower percentage on the dollar, which will result in savings. Of course the lower the percentage the higher the savings will be for the consumer.

As a consumer, you definitely want to make the best decision you can make in regards to your financial matter. Consumers want a legit, professional, well experience company that will represent their clients to their best interest through out the life of the program. Some consumers are a bit skeptical with Debt Settlement companies because there are some FRAUDULENT companies out there in the industry that will take advantage of consumers to the best of their ability.

One excellent resource you can investigate the company´s background over all is in the BBB or TASC. Please feel free to check out my sources . Hopefully this can help you acquire a decision with your financial situation.

Thank you!

Yes, if you are having hardships and difficulties paying back to the creditors that you currently have, then finding a Solution out there that avoids bankruptcy would be the correct way to proceed. Bankruptcy usually stays on your record for around 7 years and even people that have filed bankruptcy just a few years ago, look for Debt Management or Debt Negotiation options in order to eliminate debt and they successfully get out of debt.

It is recommended that you review the different companies out there that offer these services, and also to decide which program to go with depending on your situation. Debt Management can set a payment plan for you over an extended period of time, but you still pay the full balance of the debt and the payments are not really reduced by that much. Debt Settlement is actually getting more and more popular, since the company negotiates on your behalf in order for you to pay your creditors a much lower percentage of the overall debt. Savings through Debt Negotiation can be as high as 80% in some occasions.

Debt settlement definitely works!!! As there are many companies out there that offer debt negotiation services, it is recommended that you do some research about the company that will be representing you. All companies have different ways of doing debt settlement and the process vary from company to company.

I know that settlements can be reached for the consumer to save about 50% - 70% of the overall debt and sometimes you can even save more. I think it is a lot more beneficial to you to let the companies that offer this service do it for you, as they can maximize the savings and they have the experience to do this kind of thing, they also know the paperwork involved and they will handle the creditors for you to take some stress off your shoulder.

Some Debt Settlement Companies will ask you to send them monthly funds, and some others let you have control of the funds by saving them yourself and so that you feel comfortable and you know where your money is at all times. These funds are the key to success in a debt settlement program, because the more you save, the faster the debt will be eliminated.

Here are some things to look for in a Debt Settlement Company:

* Better Business Bureau (BBB) rating.

* The Association of Settlement Companies (TASC)

* Proper Chamber of Commerce

* Charge for their Services

Commission based on the savings: It is an incentive and they will negotiate a lot harder since they earn more when they save you more.

Monthly Flat Fee: They already have your money so there is not a strong incentive to save you as much as possible

I hope this information has been of great help and just to help you simplify your search, I recommend you to check out CuraDebt, as far as I know, they are the best Debt Settlement Company out there and they meet all the requirements I mentioned above.

When you enter a Debt Settlement Program you are the one who decides to stop making payments to the creditors. The reason why you decide to not send any more payments is because if the creditors continue to receive some type of payment from you, minimum payment or even less than the minimum there will be no incentive for them to negotiate since they are still getting their money through interest and the other fees they charge for credit card usage. The decision to stop making payments is not only for 3 months, but until the account has been settled, and at that point the reduce payment is submitted to the creditor.

All communication is directed to the company you choose because the Debt Settlement Company wants to handle the communication and negotiation between you and those creditors, if you continue to handle all contact with the creditors, they will just keep on contacting you and will not acknowledge the Debt Negotiation Company. It is normal!!!

If you see that you can no longer keep up with the high payments, debt settlement is a great alternative as it will enormously reduce your overall debt and you can take care of the important things while this company works on your behalf to eliminate debt.

Regardless of what type of debt relief program you decide to choose will have a negative impact on your credit report, due to the simple fact that you are using a third party company to help you with your debt. Which to most creditors can show lack of manageability.

The real question is for how long it will affect your creditors and what are some of your options.

In order for you to enroll in a debt consolidation program, you must be current with all accounts, and what they will do is; combine your debt into one monthly payment and will lower the interest rates some. This can be helpful if the problem is keeping track of all accounts. But the thing is that these programs can last 5-8 years depending on your funds available and the payments will be close t what you were once paying.

There are other types of programs that can also help like debt management and consumer credit counseling. but these programs are viewed as BK by many creditors.

There is also debt settlement which I know for a fact has helped many people if choosing the right company and researching their results; Since there are so many fraudulent companies out there. I recommend looking into consumer reports or BBB for the #1 company.

Debt Settlement can last 2 - 3.5 years and you'll pay back less than half of what you owe. If you were to complete one of these programs and don't do nothing to improve your credit score it can stick with you for 5-7 years, but there are many Credit restoration programs that will help you remove any derogatory marks that have been placed on your credit report.

Making financial decisions can be frustrating and difficult and it's extremely important that you check all your options before committing .
I strongly recommend that you look at some of these options and I'm sure that you will find the best option.

Any of these companies should have a very reputable reputation and be members of the BBB and have a good rating; I would also look to see if they are with TASC or their chamber of Commerce.

I hope that this has been of help!

Please don't let this stress you out because rushing into these decisions can hurt you in the long run!
