The creditor hires a collection agency to collect on your bad debts and it pays them some percentage once the work is done. The agenda used to get money in normal cases is to threaten. The first step used by these collection agencies is to create a mild threatening followed by deadlines. One of the most common threats being used is that if by so and so date money does not come then their bank accounts will be seized. No collection agencies can take your salary or seize your bank accounts until a case has been filed. Until and unless there is a court judgment, no collection agency can do anything to the creditors until the time they decide to voluntarily hand over the payment.
