Debt Negotiation is the process by which a debtor negotiates with a creditor such that the latter agrees to lower the outstanding debt balances by 40% to 60% so that the debtor can shell out a lower amount than he is actually supposed to pay. Debt negotiation, also known as debt arbitration or debt settlement. It is completely authorized, rational, and fair way to get out of debt. As long as debtors continue to make minimum monthly payments, creditors will not negotiate a reduced balance. However, when payments stop, balances continue to grow because of late fees and ongoing interest debtors can arrange their own settlements by using this approach.
Negotiating debt may not be a solution for all debtors. An individual, who have fails to repay the minimum amount that is fixed as per the debt consolidation program, debt negotiation may be an alternative. A debtor can also opt for negotiation if s/he has failed to make payments for the last 3 months or more. If the creditor has decided to file a lawsuit against the debtor, negotiating his/her debts may be the right solution. |
