----------------------------------------------------------

This issue includes:

1. Don't take it personally: Most of the people with
debt problems blame themselves or don't understand why they
are in such situation. This article gives a more objective
approach to the debt problem.

2. Make a budget and stick to it: Simple and practical tips
on how to organize your expenses - how to plan ahead and save
money

3. Creating good habits will definitely help you save money:
Our daily life is ruled by habits and most of the time we are
not aware of them. By analyzing the bad habits, we can turn
them into good habits, thereby using them to our benefit.

---------------------------------------------------------
1. Debt Problems: Don't take it personally!

If you are one of the many people facing debt problems, you
may be having thoughts such as: Why is this happening to me?
How on earth did I get in such a mess? Our first and most
important recommendation is: Don't take it personally. Most
of the time there is no reason or point in being so self-critical.
The energy you are expending now in destroying your confidence
and on blaming yourself could be used to focus on getting yourself
out of debt.

Even if you has been quite sensible and careful all your
life regarding  expenses, budget, and bills, there are many
circumstances that can unexpectedly lead anybody into debt. We
want to emphasize this point again: anybody can experience debt problems --- and let me tell you why.

We all know how expensive medical treatments are in the United
States. Unfortunately, we cannot predict if or when some medical problem will arise, and the most common reason people get into debt is because of the astronomical medical bills that have been paid with credit cards.

Some people have started or already have a company they thought
would be very profitable. And, all a sudden, everything starts
going wrong. Every day, millions of dollars are lost in the stock
market, but millions are won as well. People invest and create
companies everyday. That's how it should be. Every decisionwe make in our life implies a risk , even the simplest, -- but that shouldn't prevent us of acting at all. Let's face it, if we have that chicken or tuna sandwich for lunch, there is always the risk of getting food-poisoning, but are we going to starve to death?

As a very complex social phenomenon, divorce rate is increasing,
especially in the western countries -- broken families have left
many people with massive debts.

Instead of going in circles, analyze carefully some strategies
that can gradually minimize and eventually make your debts
disappear.

----------------------------------------------------------

2. Draw up a budget and stick to it

There is another simple rule to minimize debts and reduce the
current ones that you have: Don't spend more than you earn.

Expenses can be divided in two categories: the essential, daily
ones and the ones we can call luxury ones. Among the necessary
expenses that we have are rent, food, transportation, clothing
and electricity bills. It is very important to sit down with a
pencil, a piece of paper and a calculator at hand and think over
how much you can really can afford to spent in each one of these
categories and find ways to save some money.

Here are some strategies to save money on the essential expenses:

1. If you rent a house, why don't you try to get a house close to
your place of work so that you can save money on gas? Walking is
a great exercise and it's good for your health and your wallet.

2. Food: have you compared prices at your local supermarkets?
Some of them are definitely cheaper than others. Do you buy
everything you see on the shelves even if you don't need it, and then
find out weeks later that the items have expired and haven't been touched? Making a shopping list before going to the supermarket is a good technique as well. It prevents you from buying things that you don't need or already have. Also,
don't go to the supermarket when you are hungry as you will find
yourself putting everything you find in your cart!

3. Electricity bills: do you have everything on at the same time even if you are not using them? Do you keep all the lights on, even when not in the room? For a month, try turning off things that you are not using and you will see the results on your next bill!

-------------------------------------------------------------

3. Creating good habits will definitely help you to save money

Creating a budget and sticking to it only requires some planning
ahead and disciplining. We have lots of habits -- why don't we
think carefully about then and turn the bad habits into good habits?

- Do you buy everything you see even if you don't
need it or can't afford it? Get into the habit of thinking carefully
before buying anything. If you see something you want or like,
don't buy it immediately. Think it over and make your decision the next
day or a couple of days later.

- Do you run out of money immediately upon receiving your paycheck because you purchase many items that aren't necessary? Get in the habit of making a monthly or even weekly budget and stick to it.

- Do you pay others to get everything done? Get in the habit of doing things yourself. Cook your meals, instead of eating out - it is cheaper and healthier since you can control the calories. Wash and wax your car yourself. Do your gardening
yourself.

Include all your expenses in your budget-- compare what you have
been spending on each item, how much would be reasonable and
practical to spend, and then work out strategies to save money.
Plan some workable and realistic methods of savings; don't just
expect to cut all your expenses in half . Do it gradually and gently.
It is easier if you get the other members of your family involved
and if you "sell them the idea" of helping you out through the
process.
