What are you dealing with right now?
Start with your numbers
Match the tool to your situation
For unsecured debt, the honest first step is figuring out whether you are current or behind. That decides whether a lower-rate loan, a management plan, or settlement fits. Rather than assume, a quick review lines them up against your actual balances so you pick the right tool, not the first one offered.

A different track
Tax debt has its own paths
Tax debt follows separate programs like an Offer in Compromise, installment agreements, and penalty relief. The situation-first approach means checking which one your numbers point toward before anything else. You can check what you may qualify for in about two minutes.

Its own considerations
Business debt is distinct
Business debt carries different considerations from personal debt, from how it is structured to how it is resolved. The right first move is a clear read on the specifics before choosing a path. A quick review can point you toward what fits your business's situation.

Good place to be
Understand first, decide later
That is exactly the order I believe in: understand your options before committing to any of them. A two-minute review shows which paths realistically fit your situation, with no obligation, so your eventual decision is an informed one.

My story, briefly

I am Eric Pemper, and I founded CuraDebt in 2001 because I kept seeing the same thing: good people, buried in debt, being handed one-size-fits-all "solutions" that did not fit their actual situation. I wanted a place that started with the person's real numbers instead of a sales script, that told someone honestly when a loan was the wrong tool, or when they were better off doing nothing than enrolling in the wrong program.

More than two decades later, that is still the standard I hold this to. The debt world has changed a lot, and CuraDebt has changed with it, but the first question has never changed: what does this specific person actually need?

What drives the workThe most expensive mistakes in debt relief come from picking a solution before understanding the situation. Everything I have built is aimed at reversing that order, understand first, then compare the available paths.

How I think about debt relief

My core belief is simple: the right answer depends entirely on the person. Someone who is current with good credit should usually not be in a settlement program, and someone deep in hardship should not be forced into a loan they cannot afford. Good help starts by figuring out which situation you are actually in, then matching you to the tool that fits, even if that tool is "wait and do this yourself."

Please noteThis page is general background, not legal or financial advice. CuraDebt is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Every situation is different, so consult a licensed professional about yours.

“Since 2001, my goal has been to help people understand their options before making a decision. I still put my name and face on CuraDebt because accountability and clear information matter.”
