Debt and Tax Relief Calculators

The short answer
Free, no-signup calculators for debt, bankruptcy, and IRS tax relief. Every tool runs in your browser, stores nothing, shows its math, and cites primary sources. Pick a tool below, or compare your options free.

This is a complete, regularly updated library of debt and tax calculators, built to be accurate and transparent. Each tool shows exactly how it calculates, links to the government sources behind the numbers, and includes plain-English guidance. Nothing you enter is collected or stored. They are educational estimates, not legal, tax, or financial advice.

How to choose the right calculator

Start with your question. If a creditor is threatening your paycheck, use the wage garnishment calculator. If you are weighing bankruptcy, start with the Chapter 7 means test and the exemptions calculator. If you owe the IRS, try the Offer in Compromise or penalty calculators. If a debt was forgiven, the 1099-C insolvency calculator estimates any tax. To compare paying off versus settling, use the settlement vs. minimum payment tool.

How these calculators are built and kept current

Every calculator here is transparent by design. Each one includes a "How this calculator works" section that shows the formula or logic it uses, and a "Sources and references" section that links to the primary authority behind the numbers, such as the U.S. Trustee Program for bankruptcy median income, the Department of Labor for garnishment limits, and the IRS for tax rules. Figures that adjust over time, such as the federal bankruptcy exemptions, IRS interest rate, and state median incomes, are dated on each page so you can see which version applies. The tools run entirely in your browser and store nothing you enter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these debt and tax calculators free?

Yes. Every calculator is free, needs no signup, and runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored or submitted. They are meant to give you a private estimate before you decide what to do.

Are the results guaranteed or official?

No. Each tool gives an educational estimate based on what you enter and general rules, and shows its math and sources so you can check it. Your actual result depends on details the tools cannot capture, such as a creditor's decision, a court's ruling, or the IRS's review. Confirm with a licensed professional.

Do you have a calculator for my state?

We are rolling out state-specific pages for the means test, wage garnishment, and statute of limitations, each with figures verified for that state. The states available so far are linked above, and more are added regularly. The payoff and tax calculators use nationwide rules and apply anywhere.

How often are the numbers updated?

Figures that change on a schedule are refreshed and dated on each page: bankruptcy median incomes update in April and November, the federal exemptions every three years, and IRS interest quarterly. Each page shows the effective date of the figures it uses.

Can I put these calculators on my own website?

Yes. Each calculator page has an embed option that places just the tool on your site with a link back, and the tools are free to use. See the embed box on any calculator page.
